Las alergias suponen un problema creciente en nuestro país, situación que se repite en la Comunidad Autónoma de Galicia. Como datos a destacar, indicar que el 30% de la población española es alérgica según datos de la Sociedad Española de Alergología e Inmunología Clínica.

Las alergias suponen un total de más de 125 millones de casos atendidos en Atención Primaria a nivel estatal cada año. En Galicia las alergias supusieron un total de cuatro millones de casos atendidos en Atención Primaria, de los cuales 704.000 correspondieron a niños de 0 a 14 años y el 30% se correspondió con personas mayores de 65 años.

• Investigación básica. Desarrollo de una línea de trabajo propia en inmunología y asma

  • Desarrollo de nuevos biomarcadores de respuesta terapéuticos a fármacos biológicos en asma grave y otros proyectos relacionados con inmunología y alergia en general.

  • Identificación de miRNAs como biomarcadores de respuesta terapéutica a fármacos biológicos en asma grave con poliposis nasosinusal.

  • Estudios de miRNAs y su implicación en el mantenimiento de la inflamación asmática y polipoidea así como su modulación con fines terapeúticos.

• Investigación clínica. Puesta en marcha de una Unidad de Ensayos Clínicos en alergias

  • Potenciar la Unidad de Ensayos Clínicos en Alergias y Asma para aumentar la capacidad investigadora de la Sección de Alergología, facilitando el acceso de los pacientes además a tratamientos experimentales.

• Innovación asistencial. Diseño y desarrollo de una herramienta asistencial para el control y seguimiento óptimo de los pacientes de asma y otras enfermedades alérgicas

  • Desarrollar herramientas asistenciales que resuelvan las necesidades detectadas de los profesionales sanitarios y de los pacientes, que puedan afectar a otras patologías.

• • Creación de una app con capacidad de detectar deterioros del asma clínicamente relevantes que puedan predecir el efecto de los tratamientos, facilitando el desarrollo y aprobación de fármacos más eficientes, acortando el tiempo en que llegan al mercado para los pacientes asmáticos que lo precisen.
